Micron Agritech
Know Before You Dose

What is Micron Agritech?

Micron Agritech is an AI-powered parasite testing system that lets you find out — in minutes — whether your cattle, sheep or horses actually have a worm or fluke burden worth treating. No more sending samples to a lab and waiting days for results. No more guessing. Just clear, accurate answers, on your phone, while you're still at the farm.

At the heart of it is the Micron Kit — a portable, self-contained testing unit that performs a Faecal Egg Count (FEC) on a fresh dung sample and delivers a professional PDF report in under 10 minutes, independently verified to lab-quality standards.

We stock and demonstrate the Micron Kit in store. If you'd like to see it in action before you buy, just ask one of our team.

Why Does It Matter?

Worms and liver fluke are among the most costly health challenges on Scottish farms. A hidden parasite burden quietly reduces daily liveweight gain, feed efficiency and body condition — eating into your margins without obvious outward signs until the damage is done.

The traditional response has been to dose all animals routinely, "just in case." But blanket dosing comes with real costs: the product itself, the time and labour to handle every animal, and — most critically — the growing threat of anthelmintic resistance. Once resistance takes hold on a farm, it doesn't go away.

The solution is to test before you treat. By knowing which animals actually carry a significant egg burden, you can target treatment precisely where it's needed — and leave the rest alone.

How Does the Micron Kit Work?

It couldn't be more straightforward:

Step 1 — Collect a fresh faecal sample from the animal you want to test.

Step 2 — Prepare the sample using the simple equipment in the kit. This takes around five minutes and requires no specialist training.

Step 3 — Insert the prepared slide into the Micron Reader. Your smartphone connects to the reader and the AI begins scanning.

Step 4 — Results arrive on your phone in under 10 minutes — a clear, comprehensive report showing egg counts for GI worms, coccidia and liver fluke, depending on the species being tested.

The kit works across cattle, sheep and horses, covering the parasites that matter most to Scottish livestock and equine producers.

Everything you need comes in the case: the Micron Reader, centrifuge, microtubes, syringes, filters, slides and sample containers. It's portable, reusable and designed to go wherever the animals are.

The Benefits for Your Farm

Save money on product — only dose the animals that need it. A targeted approach means you're not buying and using wormers on stock that carry no significant burden.

Protect your anthelmintics — resistance is already a serious issue in Scotland. Test-and-treat preserves the effectiveness of the products you rely on for the long term.

Save time — handling every animal in a batch to dose them all takes hours. Narrow it down to those that actually need treatment and you get that time back.

Make better decisions, faster — results in 10 minutes, on farm, mean you can act the same day. No waiting for a lab, no chasing results, no delayed treatment decisions.

Track trends over time — the Micron app stores your results, so you can monitor parasite pressure across your flock or herd through the season and spot problems before they escalate.

Independent accuracy — Micron Kit is proficiency tested through VetQAS, the same accreditation scheme used by professional veterinary laboratories.
